My mother, Lisa Ray, has been an educator, advocate, counselor, theater kid and so much more to so many people across the country. She has supported and served our community though education and theater with unwavering commitment. Not only did she spearhead the Addiction Studies degree program at UCA for 20 years, 20 years before that, she also promoted treatment instead of incarceration for those struggling with addiction in the judicial system by putting the first 20 drug court programs in place across the state. Before that, she was one of the first licensed midwives of the state of Arkansas. In October 2024, she was diagnosed with grade IV glioblastoma. She has been fighting, as anyone who knows her, knows she does not go down without a fight.

Sadly, she passed away on Wednesday April 2, 2025. She did not want a funeral where everyone would be mourning her passing, but rather a celebration of her life with music, laughter and stories. Lisa Ray had such an impact on so many people from all over Arkansas and really across the country. Thank you to everyone that has reached out, donated and continue to do so. It is amazing to see just how far her reach was and how much she was loved. I love you all.

This account has been established for financial assistance, due to the abrupt and aggressive nature and size of this type of cancer, it has all happened without warning. If anyone knows my mother, then you also know how extremely healthy and outgoing she is. We were not prepared emotionally or financially for all of this. We will be having a celebration of life on Sunday April 27, 2025 at Mike’s Place at 808 Front Street, Conway, AR 72032 from 3-5pm. If you knew her, then it is not a surprise that it is a flamingo theme. All are welcome, please wear bright, beach/flamingo inspired attire.
