Please help Lisa and her family on her final journey.

Hello all, I’m Robert, Lisa’s Matthews nephew. I lived with Lisa for the last 15 years as a tenant, an on call maintenance person, and someone who checked out strange noises bumping around outside. We conquered many problems and hardships together. Lisa leaves behind many family members who loved her friends that were like family and too small Chihuahuas that bark way too much but she loved them, Coco and Butters.

On January 19th Lisa was hospitalized with what we thought at the time was either complications from her surgery in early December for arthritis on her spine or possibly a stroke. After 2 weeks in the hospital and a week in rehabilitation center we got the Diagnosis that she was positive for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease on February 4th. This disease affects 1 in a million people Worldwide. Lisa would be the fourth family member in the past 23 years to be diagnosed which includes her mother, brother and a close uncle. Sadly, she passed away on February 9th four days shy of her 61st birthday.

We are not sure what insurance covered and didn’t cover. We haven’t got those final bills yet, but we know they’re coming. There are other expenses as well that we are anticipating and some we have not anticipated. We greatly appreciate any and all donations.
