Please help Levi from Elite Stables recovery
Friday (May 7th) Christine noticed Levi was hanging out in the paddock and not doing much of anything, not even eating the grass or hay. If you know little round Levi, this is not normal for him.
Christine went out to check on him to make sure everything was okay.
It wasn’t.
Our darling Levi had a very deep slice on the back of his hock, so deep his tendon was severed and exposed.
Pain meds were administered immediately and Dr. Keith rushed out (thanks Dr. Keith!).
Dr. Keith wrapped it, gave Levi antibiotics and called Guelph Animal Hospital to notify them Levi will be on his way.
The vet informed us that Levi has a torn hind tendon. It was either surgery or putting him down.
The decision was made to opt for the surgery.
Today (May 8th) we received word that Levi has a very aggressive infection and his counts are dangerously high.
The amazing medical team at Guelph are trying their best to treat it, but he is not out of the woods and every hour is touch and go.
We do not see riding in his future. He will remain at the Elite Stables farm and live his days grazing in the grass, being fed treats, used for leading around and letting the kids bath him and love him.
I am please asking for help on behalf of Elite Stables towards Levi’s vet bills. It is going to cost upwards of $8,000 just for his surgery and stay at the animal hospital. This doesn’t include vet bills while he’s back at home recovering.
Any little bit truly helps.
