Please Help Lenny As He Fights for His Life
Donation protected
If you’ve read the book, “My Friend Leonard”, you know the namesake to be a larger-than-life character, motivated by love and generosity. So, too, is my friend Leonard. Like Leonard in the book, my friend Leonard is a man of great heart; one who tends to his friendships like a gardener to his flowers; nurturing each one with personalized letters and phone calls, each one seasoned with his unique brand of salty humor. Even my little boys get their own letters from Lenny, crafted especially for their 3 and 5-year old sensibilities, complete with stickers, silly faces and the occasional pooping rhino.
On May 8th, after suffering from a difficult bout of COVID, my friend Leonard was taken to the ICU, suffering from liver failure. After weeks of debilitating symptoms, COVID kicked his liver past the point of no return. In the past two weeks, Lenny has been fighting for his life, dealing with a slew of life-threatening issues that have stressed his body. Just approved this morning for a transplant, having made it out of yet another dangerous downturn, time is of the essence.
Throughout all of this, his husband and partner of over 20 years, Christian has been by his side, advocating and supporting Lenny. He’s been a pillar of strength and, like our friend Leonard, he’s too proud to ever ask for help.
But the truth is, this hospitalization, life-saving surgery, and subsequent recovery will financially decimate them.
Therefore, Lenny’s closest friends are putting together a Go-Fund-Me in the hopes that we might help them as Lenny begins the long journey to recovery. This transplant is just the beginning, but we are hopeful that with the loving support of our network of family and friends, we might collectively alleviate the financial hardship they are currently facing. That way, their focus can be on healing and not paying off crippling debt.
If you cannot donate even a small amount (and TRULY every little bit COUNTS), we are so grateful for any prayers sent in the direction, of our dear friend, Lenny.
