Two weeks ago, our dear friend Lance suffered a major stroke here in India. He has already spent over a fortnight in the ICU, fighting for his life with multiple infections, diabetes and organ failure. Thanks to the incredible doctors at the Government Hospital in Ajmer, and Lance's fighting spirit, his life is no longer in immediate danger and we hope that he may soon be discharged. He has overcome so much but the battle is far from over and now he faces the biggest challenge of all - the long and difficult road to recovery.

Lance and his daughter Victoria are a father-and-daughter team who’ve been living here in Pushkar together for many years. Victoria has been by his side every step of the way and is doing everything she can to organise the best possible care, but post-stroke rehabilitation doesn't come cheap.

Currently Lance is completely paralysed on his left side, and he is very confused. We need to ensure the very best level of intensive rehabilitation and care, and the cost of this is estimated at around 2 lakh rupees (£2000) per month.

The doctors have stressed that the first three months after a stroke are absolutely critical for recovery. This is when the brain is most responsive to therapy and support. Our goal is to raise enough to:

*Cover residential neuro-rehab care in a trusted facility.

*Pay for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and specialist treatment.

*Support Victoria with the practical costs of managing Lance's care, and take the financial pressure off so she can concentrate on him and his recovery.

This has been an incredibly emotional and exhausting time, but we are hopeful. Lance is a fighter, as he has already proved, and we believe that with the right care, he can regain quality of life, independence, and dignity.

Every donation, big or small, will go directly towards his treatment and recovery. The funds will be received in Victoria's UK bank account and used in India to cover medical bills and rehab costs.
