Hello world. My name is Lady.. I'm a chocolate working cocker spaniel. My mum and dad rescued me 2.5 years ago after I was found abandoned in a forest.
My dad says I'm a beautiful soul. My mum says I'm a georgous girl. I don't know what this means, but I'm a very happy, well loved dog.
A year ago I became very poorly, and I had to be rushed to hospital because my heart was not working properly due to an outside body had entered it. Mum and dad found out that this was because I love my walks and I had inhaled some grass seeds, which became very infected. The condition I had was very rare; the bacteria had to be cultured to give me the best shot of getting well.
The operation and treatment went very well and some weeks later I began to recover. Everyone called me miracle dog, even the doctors who told us this was not an expected result. I've even become a subject in cardiologist training at the hospital because survival rate was so low.
My family helped me pay for my operation as my insurance couldn't cover this illness. It has left them in what my dad calls 'a financial black hole'. And it's taken us a year to get back on track.
Suddenly about 3 weeks ago I stopped eating. No one knew why. I didn't feel so good, and lost 9 kilos of weight in a month. I have a condition in my esophagus which has caused a big lump in my right lung. The special doctors that saved me before have had a look at some images of my body. They have told my mum and dad that I need an urgent operation to remove some of my lung. Mum and dad have told me that my medical insurance will only pay for the pre operation procedures and we can't afford the operation itself. I'm hoping there might be a few people that could spare a few pounds at this very difficult time. To give me a fighting chance.
Apparently I'm very good at being a dog owned by people with mental health conditions. I'm a sensitive soul, who is needed in the family. I must be doing something right.
