Please help Kristy & her children in her fight with cancer

It takes a certain amount of helplessness and desperation to admit you need help, and not just asking friends and family for favours, but perhaps people you’ve never even met, if they’ll support you in the battle for your life.

Kristy Sanford is a 38 year old single Mum to four wonderful kids Kiara, Ella, Emily and Mason. After a few really challenging years personally, where her resilience has been tested, this latest battle is perhaps her most important and equally crushing; Stage 3 melanoma which has spread to her lymph nodes.

We haven’t set up this Go Fund Me page lightly. As a family we’re trying to do everything we can to support Kristy and the children, but it’s come to a point where we need to expand her support network further.

At this stage Kristy is required to travel from country Victoria (Bairnsdale) to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Melbourne) every few weeks for treatment, which we expect to continue for at least the next 12 months and that, along with illness and side effects means she’s not able to work for periods at a time.

Times are difficult for everyone, and for some, being able to help financially isn’t an option, but our ask reaches beyond dollars and cents. If you’re local and you know Kristy, help with meals, school pick-ups and drop-offs or accommodation when she’s seeking treatment in Melbourne etc. would also be gratefully received.

With effective treatment, Kristy’s prognosis is hopeful, but the journey to get through this is going to be incredibly tough on her and the children and we’re doing to do everything we can to ease the burden.

Now is perhaps an appropriate opportunity to also encourage everyone to get their routine skin check done, it could quite literally save your life!
