Please help Kit's recovery & medical bills.

Hi, my name is Jessie Scanlan and I am raising funds for my best friend, Sunnie and her husband John. Sunnie and John Huffman's 4 year old daughter Kit has been at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, FL since July 11th. Each day their medical bills continue to grow and due to the lengthy time in the hospital, Sunnie and John have not been able to work. What started with fever and vomitting quickly escalated to a trip to Palms West Hospital. After only 2 days there, they were transported to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. After numerous tests she has been diagnosed with auto-immune encephalitis caused by a viral infection. Kit's brain was swollen and left her unable to talk or move for weeks. She has been on pain medication, anti-seizure medication, steroids, and antibiotics and even received 2 weeks of plasmapheresis treatments. This treatment cleans her blood of the antibodies that were attacking her brain. Over the weeks the brain swelling has gone down and Kit is starting to improve. She receives three 1 hour therapies a day: occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. While these are all inpatient for now, once they leave the hospital, it will fall onto Sunnie and John to get her outpatient therapies. This will prove to be very difficult with their demanding jobs.

With the money being raised, it will help cover medical bills already acquired and to come. They will have been in the hospital for over 50 days. Kit has made so much improvement that they do not think they will have to go home with a wheelchair. Thank God!!
