PLEASE HELP KHS SENIOR

I am looking to help a good friend of my sons, Leo Burns. He is a Kingston High School Senior who was on the football team, the wrestling team & is 17 until December 30th when he'll be 18. Leo just lost his father & best friend to Cancer just 1 week prior to Christmas. His father even though wasn't diagnosed till over the summer has been ill & out of work for over a year prior to his diagnosis. Needless to say from being out of work & not qualifying for Social Security & was only very recently approved for Social Security Disability, he used most if not all of his savings.

I'm trying to help Leo on 2 levels since his Dad has no close relatives to really help with the exception of Leo's Mom & Step Dad but their bills are more then any of them can take on. Dave didn't have a will so whatever he does have left is going to be tied up probate court for who know how long.

The 1st part of helping is to help to cover the costs of the funeral home & hopefully a small service for all who was touched by Dave Burns can come together & celebrate his life.

The 2nd part is going to be much harder. In time, when probate is done Dave's house & property will go to Leo but with being so sick over the past couple of years the house has fallen into quite disrepair. The septic needs fixing, a new furnace, roof, electrical upgrade & a major clean out. We are doing what we can to physically help with this but some of these repairs are going to cost a 17 almost 18 year old that hasn't even finished High School yet a ton on money he doesn’t have.

I am hoping that as a community we can rally behind this young man & help him to not worry about the cost of the funeral/cremation expenses & then if we can try to find ways to help him keep & fix his Dad's house. I know it would mean the world to not only him but his Mom & to me as I consider him my bonus son & I know this is what Dave would have wanted for Leo. Over the past 6 years Dave & I had become very great friends. He will be greatly missed by many.
