Firefighter hurt while on the Caldor Fire SL Tahoe

Hello there!

My name is Kevin Kleinworth, on September 25th, I unfortunately was injured while working on the Caldor Fire in South Lake Tahoe California. During the last days of this fire, I was climbing onto my water truck and slipped off falling to the ground and breaking my wrist, rib, and leg.

My business is wildfire suppression. This last Summer proved to be a very busy fire season and I felt a great sense of winning after many successful deployments. I travel all over the West with my water truck to different communities to aid in wildfire suppression efforts andthis was my last fire of the season.

While heading to South Lake Tahoe, I was filled with excitement as I grew up in the area and this would be the first opportunity for me to utilize my equipment to fight wildfire on my home forest where I started my fire career in 1987.

After the fall,  the medical bills were way more than I had ever expected. I can't even wrap my head around how they can justify what they are charging me. I am humbled by this incident and just wanted to reach out for help.

I love doing what I do. I am a small business owner and just can't afford medical insurance at this time. But, I am exploring options to help avoid this in the future.

My family and I truly appreciate your consideration for any help  that you could offer. Thank you so much and God Bless!
