Please help keep us warm and safe!

My name is Kristen and that cute little face in the picture is my 3 year old son. We are currently homeless. After packing up what we could take on a plane and move across the country in hopes for a new beginning turned into an absolute nightmare. 1500 miles away from Michigan left on the streets with nowhere to go, local shelters would not even accept us since we did not have proof of residency. Got on a Greyhound bus back to Michigan- feeling hopeless. Called numerous shelters on our ride back up here.. same old story “sorry we are full, but keep calling.” When we arrived at the Greyhound station in Detroit I was met with whom I’d graciously call “my blessing in disguise” thee most beautiful, kind hearted soul, a lovely woman who has helped us stay warm by providing us with a hotel room for the first 5 days since being back here. Time is running out now though and with call after call, message after message, more lists, and more responses with “sorry we are full at this time, call back .” Which is how I ended up here, telling my story, pouring my heart out and asking for help. I am seeking employment- as well as even calling temp agencies daily, however, due to the strike they have nothing available. The hotel we are at has a weekly rate of 410.00- I am desperately seeking assistance with this cost so my son can have a warm place to stay and play with his toys as well as have food, water, and can lay his head down at night and rest comfortably. I whole heartedly thank every single person in advance for taking the time to read this!
