Help keep Heather housed for brain surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Liz, and I am reaching out to ask for help from the community for my best friend, Heather. In 2019 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that left her in a very vulnerable physical state. In 2020, Heather was one of the first of many in Oregon to contract Covid-19, where she spent the following 9 months fighting to survive. She finally recovered but was then diagnosed with 3 very rare neurological conditions; Trigeminal Neuralgia, Nervus Intermedius Neuralgia, & Occipital Neuralgia.

This has lead to several months, on & off, on unpaid medical leave from her job. During those chunks of unpaid leave she’s been living off of the last of her savings when possible, gets help with energy assistance through local agencies sometimes, & family will pay for food & medications when they can.

Heather has now been faced with 2 new hurdles. In the last month, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, & the home she has been renting for the last 11 years has been sold. The owners want to take possession immediately & served a 90-day termination that requires she leave by Wednesday, June 1st, 2022.

After months of contacting properties & touring homes, she has finally found a house that accommodates all of her disabling neurological & physical conditions, & keeps her close to her specialists & doctor’s office.

We desperately need your help!! The cost to move in, & the additional expenses needed to hire movers, since she is not physically capable, is something she is financially struggling with. The new rental requires she move in no later than June 1st, & they are requesting a total of $5,000 for move in: $2,000 for rent & $3,000 for a security deposit. This doesn’t even include the cost of hiring movers. $1,000 is due in the next 14 days to secure the unit & the remaining $4,000 will be due on May 31st.

We can NOT allow her to become homeless & unfortunately, due to her autoimmune disabilities she can’t move in with friends or family as she needs a medically sanitary environment.

In less than 3 months Heather will finally be undergoing brain surgery that she has waited over a year for. We need to provide documentation to the neurosurgeon by the 2nd week of June showing she has secured permanent housing in order for them to continue with the procedure date. This housing market makes securing a rental nearly impossible & we have worked literally day & night for 3 months to find a home for her. We can not lose this opportunity to get her moved!

Heather is such a loving & selfless person & has always been the first one to help someone when they are in need. She has gone through so much this year with her illnesses, diagnosis, surgeries, & losing both of her grandma’s & her grandfather. I want to help relieve this stress & not see her end up homeless, in pain, sad, or sick anymore.

I’m begging, Can we all please pull together to show our strength as a community, & exhibit our empathetic humanity to help her get into this place & prevent the chances of her becoming ill, losing her service animals, & becoming houseless? Please… Please help me, help my best friend.

Thank you for any help possible.
