Please help Kaydance's family as she heals!

Hi, My name is Lynn and I am trying to raise funds for my Granddaughter's family (my daughter Ashley, her husband Joey, and my seven-year old Grandson Jackson) for bills from lost wages while she is in a children's hospital in ICU, flown there by helicopter. It will also go towards expenses incurred while traveling back and forth from the hospital.

My Grandaughter's name is Kaydance (my husband and I call her Katie :), and she is 13 years old. She was struck Friday, November 12 by two trucks while crossing the street in a crosswalk. According to her friend who saw the whole thing, and other witnesses at the scene, the first truck hit her and ran, while the other truck stopped and rendered assistance. Investigators are still gathering evidence. She has many serious injuries, some of which we learn about more each day. She has a small brain bleed (none new since the original, thank God), her left eye socket, her upper jaw, nose, collarbone, ribs, arm, and pelvis are all broken. Her whole side is bruised, she had a partially collapsed lung, and her liver is bruised. She has been on a ventilator and heavily sedated since the accident. her first surgery was yesterday, and it lasted about three hours. The surgery went well!

The surgeon that did repaired her eye socket came in and said that part went well; she had to have some plates put in, the ones by her cheek can stay in but if for whatever reason later down the road they need to come out, they could. They had to put one on her eye socket floor because it was essentially gone and that will have to be permanent because those bones really don't grow back because they are so thin. The laceration on her chin basically went all the way through and she has stitches on both sides.

They are keeping her on the ventilator at least one more day. She still has gunk in her lung and Neuro wants to check her again before they take her off the ventilator. They also still want to get more imaging on her neck to be absolutely sure.

She is in good hands, as the hospital is one of the best, and the surgeon who reconstructed her face is world-renowned. We are all counting our blessings as this precious, sweet, loving, funny child could have died.

Their employers are very understanding, and told both of them to take all the time they need. However, their jobs are such that they don't get sick leave or vacation days.

As understanding as their employers are, Kaydance's parents should not have to chose to either work to be able to pay the bills, or to spend time with their child. I can't imagine what they are going through right now. We don't know how long she will be in the hospital. Any and all donations are welcome, no matter how big or small. This would greatly reduce the immense stress that they are under.

The hospital did tell Ashley that Medicaid should pay all the hospital bills; thank God!

Thank you for reading my story, and if you are unable to give, I understand. But I ask that you please keep them all in your prayers!
