Dear friends and family,

We’re reaching out to you today on behalf of our beloved friend Karoline Perdios. In May, at just 35 years old, Karoline received the devastating news that she has breast cancer. In the weeks that followed, further testing — including biopsies and PET scans — revealed that the cancer had spread to her spine, resulting in a diagnosis of Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

To say we’re devastated is an understatement. Karoline has so much life left to live, and the thought of that being cut short is simply unimaginable. She has spent her life caring for others — both in her work as an ER nurse, and in the way she shows up for the people around her. She’s the first to check in when someone is struggling, always remembering to send a thoughtful card or a kind message. She's the friend who’s always up for a drink, a dinner, or just being there — a steady, loyal presence in our lives for more than 25 years. We cannot imagine this world without her. We won’t.

That’s why we’re asking for your help. Karoline is in the fight of her life, and now it’s our turn to show up for her the way she’s always shown up for us. She’s preparing to undergo aggressive, cutting-edge treatment at a specialized cancer institute in California. This next chapter will require her to take a leave from work, relocate for three to four months, and commit to an intensive combination of both traditional and holistic therapies. With this type of treatment, insurance typically doesn't cover the cost, so all of the expenses will fall on her shoulders. We want to ease that financial burden so Karoline can focus entirely on what matters most — healing.

Anyone who knows Karoline knows how deeply funny, kind, and compassionate she is. But what you may not realize is just how fiercely determined and tenacious she can be. Karoline is a fighter — she has been her whole life. In just 35 years, she’s overcome more challenges and achieved more than many do in a lifetime. She meets every obstacle head-on, with quiet strength and unwavering resolve. And she does it all with an almost maddening humility — never boastful, always grounded, always grateful to those around her. If anyone can beat this, it’s Karoline. She’s a fighter. And the world is a better place because of her.
