Thank you all for helping Karla through this most difficult time. Without help from family and friends, near and far, she most certainly would not be able to come back from such a devastating fire. Early Friday morning, January 7, 2022, her home was burnt to the ground. The fire was so devastating we will never know what caused it. Karla was home sleeping when it started. Thankfully, she woke up and was able to get out. She suffered 2nd degree burns and smoke inhalation. As of today, January 9, 2022, she is in Exeter Hospital recovering. She had been incubated since the fire to help her breathe. She is still very confused and has no memory of the fire; and even worse, has not come to the realization that everything she owned is gone.

She had been finally willing to sell her mobile home and move into elderly housing near family. She had plans to sign an apartment lease this Friday at elderly housing in Hopkinton NH. The house was sold except for closing papers. She did not have ANY homeowners insurance in place.

Karla has nothing except the clothes she was wearing when she ran from the home bare foot. Basic household items, clothes, personal items, and 70 years of family pictures and memorabilia were all lost. Her two cats had perished in the fire as well. She was planning on using the proceeds from selling her home to purchase a vehicle. Her car stopped working months ago.

We can't change what has been done, but we can help build it all back again. She will have a long recovery ahead with a heavy financial burden. When she is ready to come back, we hope to have her apartment ready to go; fully furnished with the fridge stocked full.
