My name is Jeannine Reynolds and I have a dear friend named Kari Smith who has received an unexpected cancer diagnosis and who is humbly in need of help as she faces this journey. Kari's faith is strong and true and she knows God will provide.

Kidney cancer was not on Kari's 2025 BINGO card. On 11/7, she went to the ER severe pain in her left side and was treated for an infection in her left kidney as well as sepsis. As a precaution, a CT scan was taken during that visit which revealed a mass on her RIGHT kidney. Kari was told she had renal cell carcinoma on her right kidney. Needless to say, she was unprepared and shocked with this.

Kari is a self-employed musician, journalist, and agritourism owner, and raises her two kids alone without financial support. While recovering, she will largely be unable to work. She has also suffered a significant increase in other inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis and migraines, in the past several months, and is still recovering from hand surgery on 10/30. The surgery to remove the renal mass will take place within the next few weeks.

I want to tell you a little about Kari. I have known Kari and her children for over three years now and when we first met at her farm, we surprisingly hit it off right away. Surprisingly, because I'm almost 20 years older than her but we have so many shared hobbies and interests that we clicked! I am amazed every day by Kari's drive to support her family! A day does not go by where she isn't taking one child or the other to school, a doctor's appointment, scouts, after school events or church. On top of this and prior to her hand surgery, she'd play numerous musical gigs at local restaurants like Industrial Taphouse. Maybe you've seen her sing and play there? She also contributes articles to local & national publications. And lastly, Kari has a farm with goats, chickens, and various other animals which she tries to provide tours of to the public. She does all of this as a single mom of two children with no physical or financial support from a partner. Everything she does, is for her kids!

I'm sharing all of this with you so you may have an understanding of who Kari is and how, because of this cancer diagnosis, she will be unable to do the various things above to support her family. Kari is very humbled and grateful for those who have already reached out asking how they can help.

We would love to help take the stress of monthly financial commitments off her plate as she cares for her kids, her health, and keeps her farm afloat. Funds will be used for mortgage, utilities, gas, out-of-pocket medical costs, groceries, and basic expenses during recovery.
