Please help Karen Coscia: This is My Fight Song

It all started on Oct. 2, 2018 when my Mom, Karen Coscia, was in a relatively serious car accident on the way to the Kingdom Hall.  She was rushed to the ER for treatment of her injuries.

And that's when it happened! A potential blessing in disguise! 

The ER doctor, noticed something on the MRI that didn't look right. He didn't know what it was for sure but he was sure it was extremely serious and advised my mother to see an internal medicine doctor Immediately!

This young doctor's attention to detail and quick thinking may end up being the very thing that ends up saving my Mom's life! He was suspiciously alerted by the reading and feared it was possibly pancreatic cancer!

Normally pancreatic cancer kills quickly  because by the time you start getting symptoms it's often to late for a cure. But because of the car accident a potential life-saving "find" was discovered.

That's the "good news" ... the bad news is that after 3 months of prodding, poking and tons of tests, including two endoscopic ultrasounds and stints in her kidneys that eventually had to be removed.

The answers from conventional medical doctors at Yale came down to Stage 4 pancreatic cancer with two possible "treatments" ... Chemo or Radiation ... both which would do more harm than good.

The doctors at Yale are now convinced that the cancer has metastasized to her kidneys, even though her own urologist doesn't agree with that diagnosis!And even tho 99.99% of the time that pancreatic cancer does metastasize it does so in the liver and gallbladder ... both of which are currently clean in my Mother's case.

After doing her due diligence in giving the conventional medical field a chance to diagnosis her, the best they can recommend are high doses of chemo and radiation ... neither of which would have great affects on my Mom in spite of the fact that she is in great shape for someone her age.

We have therefore decided to aggressively pursue alternative health treatments thru an outstanding naturopathic physician, Dr. Guggenheim. She has an excellent reputation and has already begun treating my Mom with Ozone therapy as well as other alternative medications.

THE GOOD NEWS ... My Mom is responding well to the therapies! THE BAD NEWS ... it costs a small fortune.

All of my mother's care is now 100% out of pocket and it's for that reason we are asking anyone that can give anything toward her care, it would be greatly appreciate

Dr. Guggenheim has also ordered a test called the RGCC test (aka Greece test) which helps to determine the type of cancer and the extent of the cancer as well the best methods to kill and treat the cancer.

It is a well known test in Europe that of course is not done here in the United States.

The test alone, which will help determine future treatments, costs over $3,000 for the test and analysis. Every Ozone treatment is $450-$650 and she is getting at least two treatments a week as well as taking liposomal high dosage Vitamin C. 

My Mom has a long, hard fight in front of her! But if there is anyone that can beat this thing it's her!

As a sportswriter for over 20 years I got the chance to cover a lot of inspirational stories. Today, I find myself writing my most impassioned words of my entire life. This story isn't about some athlete ... no, instead it's about my No. 1 fan ... my Superstar ... my Inspiration ... my Wonder Woman ... MY MOM!!!

The fight she is going thru is not one that can be won on a field of play ... for she is in the FIGHT FOR HER LIFE!

Her victory is worth more than any trophy or championship... it is Victory over the Big C! And it's a victory she is determined to win!

I know she will win ... but it will take an entire team of all of us working together to get her across the finish line!

To any and all that can help in any way, we are eternally grateful! To those that can't, we totally understand. Please just keep us in your thoughts and prayers and pleeeease feel free to share my Mom's story!

Every day of my Mom's life has been dedicated to her family. Her and my dad made sure that my brother Chris and I had the BEST CHILDHOOD EVER.

She raised and trained us both with the morals and ethics that we would carry with us for the rest of our lives!

She made us into the men we are today!
I'm proud to be a Momma's Boy ... but most of all Mom ... I'm proud to be YOUR MOMMA'S BOY!

I am Karen's oldest son. I will be giving the funds to my mom to help with all her medical and travel expenses as she wages her fight to win this battle for her life.
