Hello, I am Deanna, Kainen’s older sister. I wish I didn’t have to be making this post, but here I am. Kainen just turned 16 years old, and his world just got flipped upside down. This all started around the last week of July when he was diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus (Mono). Mono is rough but definitely something you recover from, so we were concerned but not too worried. His platelets and WBC counts were low with Mono, which is common. They started coming back up to normal as he recovered, but then they all started going back down again and the doctor didn't know why. And last week he had a test with abnormal cells come back, which is why he had to have the bone marrow biopsy. He's never had abnormal blood test before Mono or any major health issues before. But our biggest fear came true, he was diagnosed with Acute undifferentiated Leukemia, a very rare type of leukemia. It’s also hardly ever seen in kids. Literally 1 in a million. He started chemo today, 10/7/22, and will have to be hospitalized for some time. He is the sweetest kid in the world and always more concerned with how everyone else feels more than himself. He does not deserve this. And now my mom and Dale are having to not only worry about taking care of him, but also financially because my mom is obviously unable to work at the moment, and Dominos isn’t doing a thing to help her financially. Thank god he has health insurance, so they won’t have to worry about medical bills. But they do still have to pay their bills and eat. So I’m asking, if anyone out of the kindness of their hearts is willing to donate anything, even if it’s 1$, anything helps.
