Hi, my name is Jillian and I am fundraising for a major medical request of assistance for retired K-9 Onil.
Onil is an 8-year-old European Labrador who is a retired police K-9. He worked alongside his handler, Jay Manning, for 7 years. Both of whom retired in May 2023. He worked hard to protect and serve the city of North College Hill, Ohio for his 7-year K-9 career. Onil and Jay worked tirelessly every day to keep their community safe. Onil was certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Counsel to be a counternarcotics, tracking, and article search K-9. The K-9 program at North College Hill was completely grant and donation funded by the Haverkamp Foundation, BlueLine K-9 Project, Spikes K-9 Fund, and other national organizations.
Over his 7-year career as a police K-9, Onil was involved in over 1,000 deployments, resulting in multiple felony prosecutions, gun, drug, and property seizures throughout local, state, and federal prosecutions. Onil spent 3 years as a school resource officer. He started every morning in the elementary special needs class playing with the students. He then went about his day searching multiple lockers and classrooms to ensure the safety of the school. He had multiple positive student and staff interactions as well. Onil went on to become the Police Officer of the year in 2022 for the city of North College Hill. Upon retirement, Onil’s funding resources stopped and became the responsibility of Officer Manning.
Recently Onil had surgery which led to findings of an enlarged spleen, a softball-sized mass, severe anemia, and bleeding into the abdominal wall. Onil is scheduled for a splenectomy. The removal of the mass will determine if it is cancerous. He will undergo multiple blood transfusions along with complicated diagnostics. With surgery estimates of around $10,000, we are asking for your help in supporting Onil as he has supported his community for many years. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
