Please Help Jono Coyle with his Medical Mystery

Donation protected
My brother, Jonathan Coyle, is a friendly and hardworking bloke. He loves the footy and living the quiet family life. What really shines is his devotion to his beautiful twin daughters, Audrey and Ruby. Although a man of few words, he has plenty to share when it comes to his love for his 4-year-old girls and partner, Dallas.

On the 19th March 2022, Jono was rushed to the Emergency Department with a fever, blurred vision and severe neck pain. Over the next 48 hours, his vision and pain worsened rapidly, and we feared the worst. Jono spent three sleepless weeks in ICU and the Royal Eye & Ear Hospital, undergoing countless tests. Doctors and specialists have been scratching their heads - absolutely baffled by his condition - and have been investigating even the rarest of autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases. Jono’s most concerning symptom is his vision impairment. Whatever is wreaking havoc in his body has caused large black blotches in the centre of his vision. Despite immense efforts, a diagnosis was not made, and he was discharged in the hope that the illness would run its course and normal life would resume…

For a while, not much changed. Then, on the 28th of May 2022, Jono was readmitted to hospital after his symptoms worsened again. He is presently undergoing even more tests, as the specialists have decided to “look at the even broader picture” (they are currently focused on his brain). We don’t know how long this hospital stint will be, and we desperately hope for a diagnosis and a path forward.

Financially, things are getting quite dire. As Jono has no diagnosis or prognosis, he is currently unable to claim disability payments with Centrelink or receive NDIS support. Presently, he is facing the costs of weekly GP visits, osteopathy appointments, a rheumatologist, and in the future he will likely require further services, such as an exercise physiologist.

Jono is a painter and decorator, and was proud to start his own business only months prior. His business was taking off as he is a fastidious, proud and reliable worker. However, due to his vision loss, he is unable to drive, climb ladders, or focus his eyes on any one task. He feels a little reluctant to accept donations, but his primary concern is his daughters’ well-being. I hope that by starting this fund we can ease just a little of the financial pressure the family is under off him.

Any donation, big or small, would be gratefully accepted and put towards:
  • Medical out-of-pocket expenses;
  • Rent and utility bills;
  • Groceries and petrol, and;
  • Other essential family expenses.

I appreciate you reading my lengthy spiel. Jono is a top brother, father, partner, son and friend. I feel like this is the least I could do for him and his family in this time of need.

Thankyou,
Madeleine Coyle and Jono's family
