In a single, devastating moment, Jon’s life - and the lives of everyone who loves him - changed forever.
Jon has suffered a severe stroke that has left him unable to talk or walk. The man who was once full of life, laughter, and strength is now facing a long and uncertain road ahead.
He is a devoted partner to my sister Carla and a loving, hands-on dad to their children, Teddy, James, Olivia and George. He was their rock - the one who supported them, provided for them, and filled their home with warmth and security. Now, my sister is facing the unimaginable: watching the person she loves most unable to communicate, while trying to hold everything together for their children.
The emotional toll on her is heartbreaking. Overnight, she has gone from being a partner to becoming a carer, navigating hospital visits, fear of the unknown, and the pressure of keeping life as normal as possible for the children - all while dealing with the trauma of what has happened to Jon, and working hard in her own career to keep a roof over their heads.
While we are all incredibly grateful for the care Jon is receiving through the NHS, the reality is that it simply isn’t enough for what he now needs. His recovery will depend on intensive rehabilitation, specialist therapies, mobility equipment, and major adaptations to their home - all of which come with significant costs.
We are asking for your help to support Jon’s recovery and to ease the overwhelming burden on my sister and her children during this incredibly difficult time.
Your donations will help with:
• Specialist rehabilitation and therapies not covered by the NHS
• Mobility aids and equipment to help Jon regain independence
• Essential home adaptations so he can one day return home safely
But most importantly, it will help with supporting my sister and the children with everyday living costs while she navigates this new reality.
No family is ever prepared for something like this. We all expect that it won’t be us.
Any support you can give - no matter how small - will make a real and lasting difference, and will be greatly appreciated.
If you’re unable to donate, please share this page. Your kindness and support mean more than we can ever put into words.
Thank you for standing with Jon and his family when they need it most.
