Hi, my name is Michael and Jolene is my little girl. She's been my best friend and companion for the past 9.5 years. The greatest thing about a dog is their unconditional love and Jojo has provided me this since day 1 when I rescued her. Jolene is fighting for her life right now and my heart is breaking for her. She collapsed on Friday June 9th and I rushed her to the emergency. She's been diagnosed with IMHA which is a serious and life threatening condition. Basically her immune system which typically fights off infection is now fighting off her red blood cells and destroying them causing anemia as well as inflamation throughout her body. She's already received (2) blood transfusions which are buying her time for the immuno suppressents to kick-in and slow down her immune system's burning of the red blood cells. Enough to where she can produce them faster then thay are being destroyed. It's going to be a long road ahead for her recovery but MANY dogs have fully recovered. She's maintained an acceptable blood percentage for 24 hours now which is a good sign that the immuno suppressants are begining to work but she's not out of the woods yet and there's months of check-ups and medicatons ahead of her. If there's any chance she can get through this I owe it to her to do whatever I can to get her through. It's the least I can do for her although it pales in comparison to what she's done for me over the years. Of course all these treatments and hospital stays come with a hefty price tag and I'm doing everything I can to get things done. Unfortunately I'm getting to the end of my financial rope. Any help to assist me with her medical costs is greatly appreciated. Prayers or positive energy are welcome as well. Thank you!
