My name is Aida Gracia and I’m Jose’s mom. My son was hospitalized last week and that’s when this nightmare began. He was experiencing seizures and quickly had to be placed on ventilator, EEG to monitor brain and given medication to assist heart. He was sedated and we just had to wait. For a few days everything was unknown they attempted to take him off ventilator but had too much difficulty breathing. Then he woke up. That day was so promising, they took him off ventilator and was put on oxygen. They stopped all sedation and medications and Dr was saying if all goes well, he’ll be going home in few days. He was still shaky and confused but so ready to go home and talking about taking his kids to the park and taking on his brother on BBall 1 on 1. Then suddenly as he took his first steps, he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. His heart had stopped and there was no pulse. From 7:32pm-9:16pm Staff continued to work on him. Each time They’d get him back, within minutes they’d lose him again no pulse. Test during these critical hours showed a blood clot in his heart. Dr gave him medication to help with clots that helped finally stabilize him. He had some bleeding but was stable. He quickly began having organ failure due to lack of blood to organs when losing pulse continuously so here we are today. Days later, As the nights turn to day, we continue with more test. His organs are failing, he started dialysis and continues to need ventilator, brain monitoring, and sedation. and so much more extra assistance to just hold on. He’s having 2 surgical procedures today. He still has clot in heart with additional clots in both lungs and a mass in one lung. Currently we are unsure if he has any damage to brain due to lack of oxygen and blood during the almost 2 hours to help Save him. However when reducing sedation he moves extremities and has some responses. No eye movement focus or following commands but Dr says only time will tell. He has a long road to recovery. With dialysis, and other continued complications, my son needs all the help and prayers he can get. I’m asking to please help my son, as this challenging process will require a lot of expenses, time, and care. Funds will go to his medical cost and needs as well as his children’s care and needs while he recovers. Please keep my son in prayers. He is strong and he is a fighter! If God can bring him back to us, I know God can help him pull through this. We love you Jose Gracia!! Hang on son!!
