Hi, my name is Nick and I'm raising funds on behalf of my friend John Cody (a.k.a. Jean-Marc Charron) (pictured), a talented songwriter who has had his songs covered by Bonnie Raitt ("The Fundamental Things") and Tom Cochrane ("The Secret Is To Know When to Stop.")
John, a disabled and largely housebound individual, is confined to a wheelchair due to suffering from cancer and neuromuscular disease. He lives alone with his cat in his apartment in Montreal.
At 2:30 a.m., March 15, John discovered that his curtains were on fire due to a faulty heater. He managed to douse the flames with a bucket of water, but not before his apartment sprinklers were activated, which caused most of the damage to his furniture, library and electronics.
Due to some complicated issues with the Quebec government where they’re refusing to pay his benefits, John is on a very limited income. He needs $8000 to help clean his apartment and replace some of the furniture and necessities he lost due to fire, smoke and water damage. ( see attached photos.)
Although John is a respected and critically acclaimed songwriter, streamed music - the act of people renting music rather than physically buying it - has cut into his royalty stream and has dwindled to the point where he can barely buy a cup of coffee.
Which is why any donation would be welcome to help return John to some semblance of normalcy, for which he would be extremely grateful.
Your support and generosity means the world to him and any amount you can contribute will make a huge difference.
Thanks and God bless.
