Hello. I'm Joe Fred Thomas. I'm sure many of you in Roan Mountain and Johnson City TN, and beyond know me.

I really didn't want to do this. It almost feels like I'm panhandling. However I have to do something. I am desperate.

I had a series of things go wrong that have put me in danger of homelessness. I was working through a program for seniors returning to work. I had been out of work for several years caring for my wife who was in bad health. She required full time care. I was only making $7.25 an hour for 29 hours a week. It was a struggle, but I was making it on that. Then my hours were reduced to 20 a week. That just isn't enough to get by.

I got three months behind on rent, and my power was turned off. My landlord worked with me once through Fairview Housing in Johnson City TN. I paid the three months back rent.I thought I was in the clear. I was in good standing with my landlord again. I also had a way to get the power back on.

Then right when I was ready to pay the next rent payment on time, my rent money was stolen. I had to tell the landlord. I didn't have enough for another two months. Before I knew it I was three months behind again. He was fed up by then. He gave me a 14 day eviction notice. My phone wasn't working, so I couldn't call or get online to find any help.

Near the end of the two weeks the landlord came by. He felt sorry for me and gave me the month of June before I have to vacate the house.

A friend let me use this phone to set up a GoFundMe page. I had to put my SIM card in his phone. I'm hoping to raise enough before the end of the month to stay in the house. I really can't afford to move. If I can't raise it I don't have anywhere to go.

Update: As it turns out I will have to move soon anyway. My landlordhas decided to tear the house down and nd rebuild something else here. He says he wants me out before October. I suppose I will have to continue asking for help. I

on't want to continue this. amAll of you have already done more for me than I expected. You have done more than I feel 8s right for me to ask.
