On December 16, my father fell from a 12 foot roof while at work. He landed on his right leg, causing a series of impact fractures and breaks. He broke his femur, broke his tibia in two different places, shattered his knee and has extensive damage to his knee joint. He has undergone an initial surgery to keep his leg straight, which involved inserting screws into his bones in order to install an exterior rod from the bottom of his leg to the top of his thigh. This is a temporary measure and he will require a second surgery once the swelling and blistering resolves enough for a safe procedure. His leg is currently nonweightbearing and will remain so for a series of months, even after the second surgery. While there is no specific timeline for full recovery, my father is self-employed and will be out of work for quite some time causing extreme financial hardship on our family. While my mother, Lisa, works, he will need extensive at home care throughout his recovery. I am a currently in my Junior year at Nazareth University. My parents need help as they navigate the sudden loss of income in their household. Anything helps. Thank you.
