Our 19 year old son's life was tragically taken by a drunk driver on Sunday, August 12, 2018 in a horrific hit and run.
Jesaun Benson was loved and adored by so many, he will be sorely missed. Jesaun, a vibrant young man who recently turned 19 years old on June 26th. He was the first born and only son to his parents, only brother to his sisters, and the eldest child of three. Jesaun was funny, charismatic, smart, God-fearing, and most of all loved. Jesaun was special in so many ways that no matter who he came in contact with they could feel his kind spirit and gentle nature. He was excited and anxious to embark on the next chapter in his life, college. He was heading to Central State University in Ohio, only days away, on a full scholarship when tragedy struck. Jesaun's life was tragically cut short. He was involved in an auto accident on I-880 N in Oakland Sunday morning, August 12, 2018. Everyone survived the crash. A true testimony to his character, he exited his vehicle to check on the well being of other cars occupants who were involved in the auto accident when he was struck and killed by a drunk driver. The driver whom has three prior DUI convictions, and was driving on a suspended license. Jesaun's life was taken away without warning and without regard. The reckless selfish act of a habitual drunk driver has turned our world upside down. Our son Jesaun loved life and lived it to the fullest. We are left empty, shocked, and deeply saddened. My heart is broken. This has forever changed our lives. Jesaun is survived by his Mother, Father, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins.
