Please help Jeff Tilson recover

I’m fundraising for Jeff, my brother-in-law and friend to everyone.

In early July, Jeff was working at Riverfest. He called his wife to come pick him up since he felt nauseated and fatigued. They attributed it to working in the heat and getting dehydrated. When he wasn’t feeling better by the next day, he was taken to the ER where he was diagnosed with ketosis and sepsis and admitted to the ICU.

It turns out the infection started in his eye, where he gets an injection every six weeks. It spread to the rest of his body and made him life-threateningly ill. When this began, he was barely responsive.

It has now been several weeks. Jeff has been discharged from the hospital, then readmitted. While his body recovered, his eye did not. You can check out the photo if you don’t get squeamish. Eventually, his eye was not getting any better from being at the hospital and he was discharged to continue care as an outpatient. At this point, they are still not sure if Jeff will ever be able to see out of this eye or if it will have to be removed.

Jeff has been off work since this began, using accrued PTO from the vacations he never takes (you know Jeff!). Kamille has been off of work too but has had to take it unpaid through FMLA. She has been able to return to work part time, but still regularly needs to take unpaid time off to take care of Jeff and bring him to his appointments.

I’m creating this fundraiser because, as you can imagine, this has been a huge emotional and financial drain for the Tilsons. While we may not be able to fix everything with money, I believe they deserve to continue this fight without stressing about loss of income and accruing medical bills. Your support will allow them to focus on getting Jeff better by paying living expenses and medical bills.
