Please help Jasper heal

On the night of November 19, 2021, my youngest child, Jasper was at Independence Skatepark in Fullerton, hanging out and having fun with friends. At approximately 9:40 PM, a reckless driver plowed through the parking lot, doing donuts, hitting other cars, jumping the curb and driving into the crowd. Her car then spun out, struck and then ran over Jasper. It was a miracle that Jasper wasn’t caught under the tires and killed.

Jasper was transported by ambulance to the UCI Medical Center, Trauma Care in the Emergency Room. Fortunately, Jasper has no broken bones or major injuries requiring surgery but did suffer significant soft tissue damage and mental trauma that will require months of care to heal. While insurance will cover some of the expenses, the the huge medical bills far exceed what insurance will pay.

Because the crime is being handled by the police department and DA as a felony, it will be most likely years before the case is settled and we might not get any support for the balance of our out of pocket costs for years, if ever.

While we will do whatever is needed for the health and wellbeing of Jasper, it is going to be a difficult road for us all. We do not currently have the financial resources to absorb this huge cost on top of the stress of managing care. After discussions with family and friends, and after overcoming our strong hesitancy to receive help, it was suggested that we set that aside our reluctance, no matter how strong it may be, and ask for support.
