Hi, my name is Jen and I am fundraising for my mentor and friend, Janie Murakovskaya. Janie is the reason that Jason and I met each other, working at Charles River Gymnastics together. Without Janie, our lives would be completely different. We thank Janie for the awesome life that we have now. She taught us so much about so many things!
On Sunday, April 3, 2022 while judging level 7 Massachusetts State Championships in gymnastics, Janie suffered a ruptured aneurysm in her brain. Janie was rushed to the hospital and had two emergency surgeries that day. Her chances of surviving were not good.
If you know Janie, you know she is one of the strongest women you will ever meet. When my daughter Phoebe found out about Janie she said, "It can't be Janie! She is Ukrainian and the strongest person I know. She is invincible!"
I am happy to say that Janie is doing better than expected. She will continue to be in the ICU for several weeks. Each day presents an emotional roller coaster for her husband, daughter and the entire family.
If you have ever needed medical care or have taken care of others who are ill, you know how incredibly expensive everything related to the person's life will be. It is the hope that Janie will return to her pre-aneurysm self, but at this time too much is unknown. She and her husband can not work and her daughter Sveta is at the hospital each day taking care of Janie. Say their lives have been changed is an understatement and I know they will need help.
I am reaching out to you...a friend, a judging colleague, a coaching colleague, a region 6 gym and Massachusetts gyms to donate what you can to help a woman who has dedicated her life to the sport of gymnastics. Janie is a loyal friend, amazing coach and judge, she treasures and values her family more than anything. Let's see what we can do for her!
