Please help Janet get a new engine

On thanksgiving day 2022 My daughter Ellie and I were driving to Los Angeles to spend the holiday weekend with my son Matthew who attends UCLA. It was the start of a beautiful day as we entered Los Angeles County ahead of schedule! Then abruptly my engine light started flashing and I started losing engine power. Thankfully we were able to safely exit off of highway 5. With it being a national holiday services were very limited. After several hours of waiting for roadside assistance my vehicle was towed to the nearest KIA dealership in Valencia/Santa Clarita California. I was also able to obtain a rental vehicle and enjoy the remainder of our holiday weekend as a family. Thankfully the next day the dealership was open and I was connected to a service adviser. The decision was made to leave my car at that dealership to avoid an outrageous towing fee since I was out of my tow range. The GOOD NEWS at the time was that my Power Train Warranty/Lifetime Engine replacement was still valid and in effect. Then the BAD NEWS two weeks later was that KIA would not honor either of these protections. I bought my vehicle as an investment in 2015. With my career in community based advocacy/elder care I purchased extra warranty protection and in 2019 I voluntarily brought my vehicle in for a recall and was given Lifetime engine replacement. So with utter dismay and disappointment I appealed KIA’s denial of this claim with the consumer affairs department. I was told by consumer affairs and my service advisor that KIA should in fact honor this warranty and engine replacement based on the extra warranty coverage and 2019 recall. Second appeal has been denied. I am left with two options. Pay for the new engine out of pocket or the dealership can salvage my vehicle for $99 and I need to give them the title in person. I am humbly asking for my friends and community to help me with the cost of a new engine. The estimate given to me for a brand new engine including parts and labor is $6,700.11 I was provided a rental car through Enterprise being told I would be reimbursed by KIA once the repairs were completed minus taxes. To date I have paid out of pocket over $3000 for rental fees. Repairs have been denied so I have not been in a rental since the claim was denied the first time. I have never asked for help like this so publicly before. I am forever grateful for any and all who are able to help and contribute in any way possible.

With love and gratitude,
Janet
