My daughter's name is Jahan. She lives in Afghanistan, and has a blood disease called ITP: Immune Thrombocytopenia. Her body isn't able to produce sufficient platelets, which leads to bleeding problems, which can become severe or life-threatening.

The trouble is that the medical establishment in Afghanistan isn't able to properly manage the disease. Over the past several years she has been receiving steroids in an effort to control it, because the primary method is unavailable there. However, the use of steroids for this purpose is counterproductive if they're used over long periods: it's only supposed to be for a few months, and it has now been almost three years. As a consequence she's now suffering from steroid toxicity; she's slowly being poisoned by the steroids. SickKids in Toronto provided (remotely) a medical second opinion confirming her condition and her need for supervised treatment.

I live in Toronto, and have been struggling for three years to bring Jahan here, where she can receive proper medical care. But the wheels of Immigration Canada turn slowly, and only now have they accepted our application.

To bring her and her mother and little sister costs over $10 000 Canadian: visas, health check, fingerprinting, and plane fare. I can't pay it all: I work as an Uber driver. If there wasn't urgency, I'd raise the money over a few years. But Jahan has to come now, because of her condition.
