Jackson and a friend were passengers in a Uber when they were struck by a car running a red light.  The injuries he sustained are absolutely horrendous:  

*Surgery to repair his pelvis which was broken in 5 places.
*Surgery to repair a perforated bladder.
*Multiple broken ribs.
*Collapsed lung.
*Significant scalp laceration.
*Severe contusion/bruising/bleeding of the brain.

During his first 3 days in the ICU he was on life support - it was, and is, that serious.  He's currently in his second hospital (Pasadena, CA) - one more suited to manage his injuries and treatment.

While we are hopeful in him eventually achieving a full recovery, the road to healing is going to be long and arduous.  When he is finally well enough to be released from the hospital he faces an extensive and utterly gruelling rehab process.  At this point it is expected that he will be confined to a wheelchair full time for at least 2 months and he still  faces several more weeks in the hospital - under 24/7 care. The overall healing timeline is projected to be 6 months.  This is all happening in California.  Once released from the hospital he will require wheelchair accessible housing and lots of personal care. The expenses are rapidly piling up.

Funds that are raised will go to help Jackson's lengthy rehabilitation (rehab center bills, special housing, personal care).  Some funds will go to help offset the significant costs that have already been incurred.

 For those of you who know Jackson you know he is a fighter.  He's overcome many obstacles in his short life.  This will be by far his biggest challenge.  Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I have been friends with the Southorns for 30 years.  I've known Jackson since he was a newborn.
