My name is Maher and I am raising funds for my younger brother Islam to get a liver transplant to save his life. Unfortunately, Islam was diagnosed with severe cirrhosis of the liver that was caused by his diabetes. Doctors say that he needs an immediate transplant. His current condition is not well, as he is immobilized and suffers from painful fluid buildup in the abdomen.

Islam is a citizen of Tunisia, so our best option for a transplant is to do it in Turkey. We currently believe we have a family member willing to donate a part of their liver in order to make this possible. The cost of a liver transplant in Turkey runs about $75,000. The funds from this fundraiser will be used for that procedure, medical exams, and travel expenses for Islam, the donor, and myself to take them there. Of course, whenever there is an organ transplant, the patient will be required to take medication for the rest of their life to ensure the body does not reject it. Any additional funds that are raised after covering the cost of the operation and travel will go toward Islam's medication.
