Hernia Surgery; Please Help!
Donation protected
***UPDATE; Triple Hernia Surgery was performed on 11.11.2022 and we are now struggling to physically recover and pay for the services.***
My name is Matthew Havrilla and I am asking for your help in paying triple hernia surgery. (Right and left side, upper and lower inguinal and a small umbilical hernia) This was a long journey and something I lived with for 18 months. Your donations so far have helped make my medical treatment possible. The short version is that we need your help to pay for the $3,600 Hospital fee, $370 surgeon fee and several others that always arrive after the fact.
The long version of the story is that I suffer from Ankylosing Spondylitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and several other ailments. And 2021 was the worst year I've ever had for my health. Ever. I spent a week in the hospital twice and the only thing that got me under control was over a year of high dose steroids. (I was not able to be on my Remicade infusions during this time because I was also battling Valley Fever.) My surgeon and rheumatologist believe that because I was on the steroids for so long they contributed to these hernias developing. I've spent the last year fighting SO HARD to get my health back to a point where I could finally have these hernias addressed. I was supposed to have surgery on August 22nd. Then disaster hit.
One week before my triple hernia surgery I wound up in the ER with kidney stones. I cannot usually pass them due to a small ureter opening so I had to have Emergency Surgery to have them removed. For that surgery I had to face the exact same bills so our medical debt has climbed dramatically. (We still have extra Bills tricking in from that surgery. I just got a $200 Anesthesiology Bill yesterday. The kidney stone timing was far from ideal.)
My Health Insurance was practicing Claims Avoidance and I had to file a Complaint with the Arizona's Department of Insurance because they were not closing my Remicade Infusions and applying the $2,000 per OofP cost to my Out of Pocket Max. Due to this fact only $4,000 of my $8,700 Out of Pocket Max is met when the entire amount SHOULD be paid off. This issue has still not been satisfactorily worked out.
While all this was playing out in September both of our Central Air Units broke and one had to be replaced. (We live in Arizona and the daytime temps were still in the 90s with 3 Disabled Residents in the house.) With bills from my Kidney Stone surgery, AC unit replacement as well as existing unpaid medical bills....we just can't do the Hernia Surgery without your help.
I'm fighting for SSDI for a second time, but I'm unable to work and have no income. My wife has a wonderful job but struggles through so much illness, herself, that she's killing herself looking for a SECOND part time job to work on top of her Full Time career just to pay our Medical Bills and keep our home of 4 afloat.
She can't do it. She suffers from CRPD, has had three hip surgeries and fights through SO MUCH herself everyday. It's so difficult to see her destroy herself trying to hold me up while I watch impotent, unable to help in any way.
You are not just helping me. You are helping the woman who fights so hard to hold us both up. While fighting one if the most painful diseases known, CRPD. She's my hero and my Love. And anything you can Donate that would help us carry this load would be appreciated.
We need help. I need YOUR help.
Thank you.
*Estimated amount due updated 11.13.2022 with the most current amount available. This is almost $1,500 more than the Original Estimate provided in August. I am unable to determine why.
