Hi, this is my dog and best friend Mila. I got her from the Lost Dog's Home in Melbourne 7 years ago and she's been part of my family ever since, even relocating with me back to NZ.

Today Mila slipped into a hot water stream at Lake Tarawera, which my husband then jumped in and pulled her out of as quickly as possible.

They are both currently receiving burns treatment in Waikato and Mila's vet costs have already set us back thousands. She has a long road ahead but with a great team of vets and nurses treating her.

I'm reaching out in an effort to raise funds to help pay for Mila's vet care. She is in a stable condition and her pain is being managed well, to keep her as comfortable as possible.

We are a one income family at the moment as I look after our baby and toddler. Unfortunately my husband is a contractor and does not get paid while he's on bed rest (we've applied for ACC to help with everyday costs). The quotes for Mila's treatment are around 20k which is beyond our reach right now unfortunately.

If anyone is in a position to spare a few dollars towards Mila's intensive care treatment, we would be extremely grateful.
