Help us recover from a diverticulitis battle
Donation protected
Hi, I am Alex. I have an 8yo son who is my absolute pride and joy and a wonderful husband who has been by my side through all of this.
I have been battling diverticulitis since April 2023. I went to the ER, had the CT scan, oral antibiotics and went home. In June the same thing happened again. Went in to the ER Aug 16, another flare and an abscess. The abscess was about the size of a lime when I was at Walter Reed so they released me on 8/22, because my blood got better and then I started feeling really ill at home with fever and chills and stuff so we went back to Walter Reed on 8/30, and they did another CT scan and found that the abscess was the size of a grapefruit. Not only that it’s caused a secondary abscess on my fallopian tube, and it’s pushing against my ureter (the tube that you pee out of) and it did actually shove my entire uterus off to the right quite a bit so everything in there is just upset and inflamed. I was transported to Riverside Regional on 8/31. I had a drain going into my abdomen into the abscess. It seemed hopeful but the culture on the fluid in the abscess came back as MRSA and the drain tube has pulled out of the abscess.
This has left us with no choice but to operate. The drain will be coming out and the surgeon will be taking 11-12” of my colon and resectioning it, along with removing the massive abscess.
I need prayers, good vibes and help. I miss my home, family and animals. I’m a pretty strong person and I absolutely can’t stand asking for help, but I need help this time friends even after the surgery I’m facing being out of work for 6-8 weeks. This isn’t including everything that I’ve already fallen so very, very far behind on just from the hospital stays up to this point.
Anything anybody can do to help, will be considered a blessing. I love each and everyone of my friends and family. Never take anything for granted.
