Hi everyone, I come to you humbled, weary and heavy ladened.

My husband and I and our 6 children (1 is our grandson) were forced out of our home with just 24hrs to vacate due to our house (4bdrm 2ba) being shut down(deemed uninhabitable) by DC govt (Department of buildings). It took 4 years of our home declining but they are finally cracking down on our slumlord NESTDC. (The owner of our house lives overseas and only has this one property..NESTDC is supposed to “manage” the property..they do “band-aid work). This is traumatic and overwhelming.

I have a Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) local voucher issued through DHS and I have a housing case manager that says it could take until February before we can get into our new place. Virginia Williams Family Resource Center (central intake office for families seeking shelter) are not able to help us due to shelters being “full”. I am a SAHM, my husband was laid off from his salaried position (Head Chef) in September of this year. We have been using our savings and paying for lodging in a motel since December 2nd and we have depleted every dollar and resource.

My faith in Christ is extremely strong and unwavering..I know that this too shall pass.

We were living with RATS, electricity not working in certain parts of the house, roaches, flies, peeling paint, cold water or no running water at all, collapsed bathroom ceilings, clogged tubs with black stuff coming up, broken stoves and refrigerators…it has been grueling but we are finally safe..God prevented us from getting sick..Glory be to God!
