Please Help Heather the Sanibel Stray Cat
Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is Audrey, and I am a biologist on Sanibel Island, Florida. Since Hurricane Ian hit in 2022, I have been working with a dedicated team of volunteers to reunite lost pets with their owners and find homes for stray cats. Last year, I did a fundraiser for a feral cat, and thanks to numerous generous donors, I was able to get her the veterinary care she needed and had enough leftover to help more cats. I am happy to report that both those cats have since found their forever homes. I still have a small amount leftover, but not enough to help this new cat.
This past weekend, we received a report from a good samaritan of an injured stray on West Gulf Drive on Sanibel. Despite sharing her picture on social media, no owners have come forward. She has no microchip either. Since she was found near Heather Ln, we have been calling her Heather. Unfortunately, her tail injury was severe, and today she had part of her tail amputated. The vet bill is over $1,000. If anyone out there is willing to help donate a few dollars towards her surgery, I would be very grateful.
I am able to foster her in my spare room until she is feeling better, but ultimately she will need a forever home!
