Harley Belle Hebert is 15 years old and was a passenger in a very bad rollover car accident Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in South Dakota, where she lives with her parents Jana and Adam. Our family started this Go Fund Me to help ease the medical and financial struggles they are faced with.

Harley has some very serious injuries and has a very long recovery ahead of her. She has 15 fractures in her back, a broken left thumb and her left wrist is broken in three places. She had internal bleeding and had surgery to immobilized her spleen on Thursday to stop the bleeding. They measured her for a back brace, had it specially made and flown in from Massachusetts, it arrived Friday evening. She had surgery on her thumb Saturday, they placed 2 screws and said her joints lined up perfectly. She has significant brain swelling, all tests are showing no brain damage. She has a large laceration on her kidneys, blood in her urine and her lungs and liver are very bruised. She has a hematoma that goes from her ear to ear, it covers her entire head. She can’t hear out of her left ear, this morning they said she has blood in her ear. The ENT said she has nerve damage in her left ear and the hearing loss may be permanent. They are concerned about her hemoglobin, as it is low and they are continuing to monitor it. She is still really swollen and most of her body is covered in bruises and cuts. The pain, muscle spasms and nightmares she is having are really bad.

*** The driver of the car did not have insurance. Jana and Adam’s health insurance is not going to cover a lot of the medical costs and equipment. Some of the costs that won’t be covered are considered luxury items according to the insurance company. These are things she will need in order to help her when she goes home. Jana won’t be able to return to work for a while. The money collected will help ease the financial burdens that aren’t covered by insurance and loss of Jana’s income at this time. Harley has truly been Blessed and we are so very thankful for her to be here with us. From the moment Harley arrived at the hospital, the medical staff has been outstanding in the care of Harley.
