Long story short(I have my long story in the next paragraph), my car’s engine is damaged and I can no longer drive it. I need transportation ASAP as I commute ~70 miles a day for 7x a week to my work. Without transportation, there won’t be any income for me. With my immigration status, I am challenged with limited job opportunities and ways to sustain myself, and this incident was detrimental to my finances as I still have to pay MBA tuition, miss several days of work, and a few thousand of dollars($2299.21+$600 rental car a week) went to fixing the already damaged car. As many of you know, buying/financing/leasing a car right now with a shortage of chips and low inventories is extremely unaffordable..., especially with my status... Just found out that it would be unaffordable to lease or finance a car with my status due to high APR rates.. I will use the fund from this to buy a used/new car. I will truly appreciate you all supporting me(financially or mentally) through these tough times, and I will do my best to help you all & the community once I figure out everything... Thank you so so much!!!!
On Saturday 1/22/2022, my car broke down twice on the I-5 freeway on my way back to campus. After the road service replaced my water pump and belts($700 total $150 deposit + $550 for service), my car broke down again at 2 AM. I had to wave at the cars passing by to get my car jump-started and somehow made it to the hotel 0.4 miles away. I had to stay in Coalinga unexpectedly for two days($225.12 for the hotel) as the mechanic from Kevin's Auto Repair & Towing had to replace the alternator, which took a day to deliver. On Sunday morning, the mechanic found out that the engine has been damaged after his test drive and that I can no longer use my car. The total came out to $574.09. I had to get my car towed from Coalinga to Oakland, which was roughly 169 miles and $800. I spent about $2299.21 to not get anything fixed and get it towed to school. I am currently renting a car, which costs $627.32(including $300 deposit) per week. Going into my second week of rental cars.
