Hello, my name is Shelly.

This is Jimmy and Debbie Haverstock and their fur baby, “Sully Boy.” I want to tell you a story about this family and particularly why Jimmy and his family deserve your help.

I have known Jimmy my entire life and he has always been wonderful to me and my family, but this goes far beyond what even good friends do for people. Almost 40 years ago, when my Great-Aunt was in her seventies, her house burned down. She lived four houses down from Jimmy and his family on the PockWock Rd. This had been our family home since my Great-Great Grandfather purchased it. Everything was gone. My Aunt was in the hospital at the time and was now homeless.

Jimmy found a house in Bedford that was going to be demolished. He approached the developer and was told he could have the house if he moved it. He worked tirelessly raising money and putting resources together to move this house to her property and make it liveable. He provided a family home for all of us. Another place where we could gather on holidays and be together with our loved ones.

Now the unthinkable has happened! Jimmy and his lovely wife have lost their family home to the terrible forest fire that started in Tantallon, N.S. They barely had enough time to grab their small dog and a bag each. They lost everything. All the family mementos, keepsakes and photographs cannot be replaced. The home that Jimmy grew up in cannot be replaced. For this fine man, who is now himself 73 years old, all we can do is to try to be there for him, the way he has always been there for everyone else.

I know my Great Aunt Blanche is watching and hoping for the best for him.
