Please Help Hachi Get The Surgery He Needs

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I am reaching out with a heavy heart today asking for help for my dog Hachi who has been diagnosed with a painful gum disease that requires surgery and tooth extraction.

A little history on him is that he had a very difficult beginning in life with neglect and abuse in Puerto Rico but through an animal rescue there he was taken in by what I call angels and those volunteers worked with him , If I remember correctly it took them months to be able to get him to trust anyone. After working with him they felt he was ready for his freedom flight to a rescue organization that finds forever homes for the abandoned and abused street dogs of Pureto Rico, called Make a difference of WNY in Albion, NY. Hachi was deemed a harder case because of his very self protective nature and was looked over time and time again by everyone who visited him at the shelter with his attitude" and came across as very unapproachable so he sat there for months with no interest. I came across him on pet finder one day in 2018 and after reading his story, saw a dog that needed a chance for someone to take the time to show him love, patience and solid care, something that he had never experienced. l knew it was not going to be easy and it wasn't without its challenges….everyone in our home was bitten by him at one time or another, we needed the patience of saints, my dog Bailey hated him , needed tons of prayers and not afraid to say regret in the beginning but l absolutely refused to give up on him. Over time we finally won him over with what seemed to take forever but couldn't be happier to report that he has become the most loving, loyal affectionate, gentle dog you would ever meet, especially given what he went through for the first few years of his life.

Unfortunately today after a visit to the vet as he was due for vaccines , I had also noticed he wasn’t eating like he was, acting, a little quieter than normal but I just thought he was slowing down due to getting older as it had been going on for a few months but was informed of his diagnosis. This news couldn't have come at a worse time.

You see, 3 short weeks ago today our beautiful girll Bailey passed away due to heart failure because of a heart murmur she was born with. She was just one month shy of her 10th birthday. On May 7th I noticed she was having trouble breathing so I rushed her to the vet and given the news we weren’t prepared to hear. The vet suggested medications which would not cure her but manage her symptoms which we decided to try. Over the course of a month she underwent vet care with ex rays, ultrasounds, blood work, medications, emergency vet visits because of her breathing and she was showing improvement , but ultimately a short month later on June 9th we lost the battle and had to make the decision to let her go. Losing Bailey has been very difficult as anyone who has lost a pet can understand. I can’t even put into words how her absence has impacted us but thankfully she is no longer in any pain or suffering.

Now 3 weeks later to the day, we are faced with Hachi’s diagnosis and have been quoted 2-3 thousand dollars to start with which we just don't have. Baileys care was expensive which I'm still dealing with and while still grieving now have to figure out a way to help Hachi which is why I am here asking for help. It's very difficult for me to write this asking total strangers for money but I have to do what I can for my dog as other than this dental problem he is in good health and not ready to leave us yet. I am asking for a consideration of anything that you could donate to help fund his care , anything at all would be so appreciated but if you aren't able to which I totally understand…times are tough for everyone right now if you could kindly just share this post. Because of what he’s been through and how far he has come , im not ready to have his story end here. Not like this . With Bailey there were no other options for her but Hachi’s illness is treatable but unfortunately expensive.

I thank you in advance for any help you can provide for Hachi and taking the time to read our story. I am more than willing to provide proof if required as well as answer any questions you may have. I know there are many many people in desperate situations more dire than ours and in need for many different reasons , ones that are more deserving than us but for me, my dog is everything me.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration ❤️
