We are raising funds to help our friend Luis Gustavo Barreto. Guga was diagnosed with colon cancer in December of 2018 and had very aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatment for two months. This treatment had multiple side effects that prevented him from continuing his work as a cook and housekeeper. In addition, the radiation treatment led to bone decalcification and ongoing excruciating pain. Guga continues to work with his doctors to alleviate his pain and with his social worker to identify work he can do with his current physical limitations. Guga feels highly anxious and distressed about a debt he accumulated during this process and the challenges of meeting his financial needs until he can work again.
