As many of you may or may not know, Tim Nyquist battled skin cancer a few years ago and spent many months on oral chemo. We were hopeful that it had conquered it, but recently it reared its ugly head, and it was obvious that something was not right. He was recently diagnosed with Merkle Cell Carcinoma. This was a shocking diagnosis to say the least. It's a rare and aggressive form of cancer that needs the best care possible for the best chance of survival and a good quality of life. They found an excellent team in Seattle and have already made one trip out. They're getting ready to head back for 10 days where they will do an incredibly intense round of radiation - they're doing 2 rounds that are equal to the level of what they typically do in 25 rounds. They will spend 10 days in Seattle this time and likely have many more trips back.
Tim is one of the most wonderful people I've ever known. I'm blessed to call him my Step Dad. Many of you know him as a friend, a coworker, an uncle, a brother, a cousin, a husband. Where he's happiest in life is being a Grandpa - and he has perfected the art of being one. He would do anything for anyone. He has a heart of gold and is so talented. Many of you have probably experienced his craftsmanship skills and have pieces of his work to admire.
I'm asking everyone to rally together and give what they can to ease Tim and Susan's financial burden, so he can continue receiving the best care possible. This journey is incredibly stressful for them and has only just begun. There is a tremendous expense in airfare, lodging, dining, etc... I understand that not everyone can give financially - please also keep our family in your prayers. There is POWER in prayer; we need all of them we can get. I'm sure some help around their property and day-to-day things would also be appreciated.
