Hi friends! Goose is our 9-week-old Labrador who we love beyond measure. We obtained him from a friend at 7 weeks of age. Although a quiet pup, he was very happy and healthy... until he wasn't. He started to have grand mal seizures and was hospitalized for 24 hours. We did all of the testing from basic bloodwork to liver to even a neurologic panel that we had to send out. All of these came back negative. Luckily, he did very well and was started on seizure medications at home. We had a Neurology appointment scheduled for this Thursday. He has been seizure-free and living his best life... until this morning. He had a very big seizure and then continued to have smaller ones and was not really coming out of them. By the time we got to the vet, his temperature and heart rate were very high. He unfortunately has developed non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema as a result of the lack of oxygen and all of the saliva during his seizures. Emergency care was started immediately. We had to transfer him to a specialty hospital where he is in an oxygen cage and on seizure medications via IV. Hopefully, we will get more answers when he is transferred to the neurology department tomorrow. We do have pet insurance, which covers a decent amount of the costs, but our portion is starting to add up quite a bit... especially with the MRI that he will be getting. We are being very realistic that this may not end well, but we want to give him everything we've got in the meantime. We never ask for help and don't expect anything big, but if you can help even just a little bit, we would forever be grateful. Goose deserves the best and we will continue to fight for him regardless. Thank you so very much
