Hello,

My name is Charmagne Shepherd and myself, my husband Brenton and our children, are asking Townsville for support at this devastating time.

This morning (22/08/2025) we found our beloved BD (Baby Dog) Goose, lying outside unable to move, vomiting blood and bleeding from his rectum. We have immediately taken him to our nearest vets where they have attempted to stabilise him. We have then transported him to NQ Care Vets where he has received ongoing care for his condition. At this stage, we are unsure if our baby has been baited or if he is suffering from Acute Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. Goose has received some medications and we are currently waiting to see his condition improve.

As soon as he was admitted, we were aware the vet bill would be huge but anything other than the best care was not an option. At this current time, our projected bill for just the first 12 hours is sitting at $2000- $2500. We have paid a 50% deposit fee of $1000 and are now in the waiting stage. We have been told that the fees are paid in 12 hour increments at $500- $1000 per 12 hours depending on care needed and to expect around a $4000 bill in total with the best possible outcome.

All funds received will be used for Vet Fees.

We are now asking Townsville for help. We need our BD home and healthy and cannot bear the thought of a different outcome. With current living expenses, other unexpected bills as well as birthdays and events, we are struggling.

If you have met Goose, you know how much of a good boy he is. He is so much loved by all and is absolutely part of our family unit. He is like our 6th child.

Please keep our Goose in your thoughts and truly, anything helps at this point.

Thank you for reading.

UPDATE 23/08
Goose is home and resting with some ongoing medication and a bland diet for the next few days.

It was found that Goose had a severe allergic reaction which caused the Acute Gastric bleeding.

It was touch and go for a long time and we are all so happy that he is on the mend.

Unfortunately it is unlikely we will ever find out what caused the reaction so are taking all the precautions we can.

We are now left paying a $3500 vet bill and appreciate any support we receive with this.

We would like to thank NQ Care Vets, their dedication to our boy was just unmeasurable and we are so thankful they took such good care of our Goose.

Charmagne, Brenton and kids xx
