To anyone that will listen,
please make sure all your paperwork is in order. My husband thought he was taking care of his family and that the military would take care of his family, as he took care of other military families, but because he is a retiree, we have been left in the wind having to find any and all answers and no way to pay for a funeral. Where is the honor we were promised? We need to help each other and hold tight to the ones that you love and SAY something if you see something wrong. Get help Brothers and Sisters of the military. I can't see another suicide due to the HELL you all went through.
To My Husband,
I miss you every moment that you have been gone! Never in a million years did I ever think that this day would come! Never did I think that you would take your own life! The nightmares I wish I could have taken away, the sleepless nights that seemed to last forever, the loneliness for your Brothers after 22years in the military and multiple deployments to Iraq were such a heavy weight to bear. I would take your place in a heartbeat if only you could come back and LIVE! Live life like you never were able to live! You were my hero, the military man that people looked up to, people strived to be. Why is there no one to listen now that you are gone? I have gone over that night a million times in my mind, had you just waited 2 seconds, I could have been back in your arms and holding you tight. Instead, those 2 seconds will be a horrible memory that I will forever see. The guilt that I have, I can't seem to shake. The worry for our children won't go away! The fear that my children see the military as the enemy is something that I never wanted. My children cannot grieve for you because they are trying to be strong for me, trying to figure out how to pay for a funeral that you thought was covered, trying to figure out why the military has stopped all of your disability and retirement payments due to your death. My husband, you gave your life for this country, you killed yourself for this country! Let's be real, you committed suicide! How is that fair? How is it fair that men and women seem to be left behind once they leave the military, knowing damn good and well that they have seen Hell and are having to live a silent hell in their minds. Yes, I know there was help out there for your PTSD, but let's be honest, this crap should have been done before you got out of the military. I still love my Country, but how can they punish a family, by taking away all that you worked so hard and suffered silently for? Your SGLI no one can find and we are told there is nothing there. Your retirement and disability has been stopped, now how am I suppose to pay the bills, let alone, try to honor you with a funeral? What am I suppose to do? You always knew what to do when it came to this. I just want you back with me and your children!!!!
Please if you can donate anything it does not matter the amount anything will help the Bush family. Mark loved his family, he loved serving in the Army for 22 years. He was a Great, Fun, Loving Man. Please help with the funeral expense and other expenses that this family is now having to deal with due to the VA stop the Benefits and is not paying any of the funeral expenses.
