Thank you for taking the time to read this. It is truly appreciated.
There is so much I want to say but I will try to keep it simple. I believe in life, if you are lucky, you are blessed with a few special friendships. One of those friendships for me is with Missy Frisch.
We met in 3rd grade, 37 years ago. Missy has been a constant in my world. A strong thread throughout the many stages of my life. We have lived states apart for a long time now and can go years without seeing each other but we never forget to reconnect from time to time. When we do, we can laugh for hours. We share the exact same sense of humor and we can finish each other’s sentences. She is truly like a sister to me and someone I know I could depend on at the drop of a hat.
Oddly enough this year my life got crazy and I missed her birthday for the first time in decades. September 21st. I began to realize that it had been an unusually long time since we had last touched based.
Unfortunately, I have come to find out that my dear, beautiful friend has been very ill for a long time. It is not unlike her to keep things close to her chest, she is very private but she's a fighter. I recall her telling me she had not been well, but I did not realize how quickly her situation escalated.
Missy began having symptoms of her illness in Jan of 2016. Her road to a proper diagnosis has been a treacherous one. I am deeply saddened by what she has been through and the poor medical care she received along the way. In the Spring of 2018 she was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease. She began treatment for this and was still functioning at a high level despite feeling as though she was living with the worst flu almost EVERY DAY. She was still working and going to school plus she is currently a single mom who lovingly dotes on her son.
Missy’s life took a very complicated turn when she had 2 MRI's done of her brain a few weeks ago. The MRI's showed decreased blood flow to her brain, including white matter - all indications of a higher risk of stroke and of advanced stages of Lyme disease.
Her basement flooded once again (3 times in less than 3 years), during a storm early this summer (2019). What she was told by 2 mold inspectors is that the flood caused mold to grow and only exacerbated the neurological part of her Lyme disease.
She is now no longer able to work and of course no longer attends school. She spends her days fighting off waves of nausea and debilitating aches and joint pains. She is often confused, grasps and stutters for words when she speaks now. She suffers a great deal from hearing loss, horrible ringing in the ears, double vision...Her and her son are living in her home that her physicians have warned her needs to be treated extensively, or partially demolished to be mold free.
Her life savings has now been spent not only on massive medical bills, but between doctor’s appointments (Lyme doctors not covered by insurance), hospital bills, failed treatments and medications, she no longer can focus on getting well. She spends her days crying and worried that she will lose her home due to her mounting medical bills and her inability to produce an income. The same home she still needs to have treated, but she cannot afford to pay someone to do the remediation work necessary.
She needs a break. She just spent time before Thanksgiving in the hospital once again. This beautiful, strong, intelligent and loving mom needs a break. I feel like this is the only way she may get one.
I know it's a busy time of year, but I am reaching out this way to all of you because I don’t know what else to do. I know this plea for help is completely out of her comfort zone, but she has a son and she deserves the chance to get well for him. We all deserve a chance.
I have set the amount to what I believe will enable her to pay for her mold inspection and removal and will also allow her to make payments on her medical bills and seek treatment with a well-regarded specialist.
I truly believe if she can gain some peace of mind she can continue to fight her illness and get well. Please consider helping my dear friend. Every single dollar helps and is so very appreciated. Thank you again for reading this.
I have included a photo of Missy as I have always known her to be. Vibrant, fun loving and most of all an incredible mother and provider. I know she can be that person again.
*Missy and I are life long friends. I am the only person who has access to these funds and I will withdraw and deliver to her whenever she requests. She is using all donations to pay for her medical bills, utility bills and groceries at the moment. Thank you.
