Hi, I’m Gus. Please spare 5 minutes of your time to read my plight.
I am 34 years old and 12 months ago I underwent brain surgery due to a condition called Hydrocephalus. However, due to delays and negligence on behalf of the NHS I am now completely blind. My world went black, along with this I lost all confidence and became seriously depressed. I had no one to speak to and no guidance or help. Life as I knew it vanished.
Post operation I was housed in a small flat in Epsom with no help whatsoever for days, just a bed in a room with a separate kitchen and bathroom. No one to help me with the layout of the place, or help make food and drinks. It was a dire situation and had I not experienced this first hand I would not have believed that people get treated so badly.
I’m pleased to say that through sheer determination I am now picking up the fragmented pieces of life and trying to improve my situation. I’m still fighting to get basic help like brail and cane training, but trying to claim financial support is an on-going battle.
I am so excited that with some help I have now managed to get a placement at Nescot college to study massage; finally a chance for some independence and to feel self-worth again. Sadly, I didn’t realise the course costs £2,200, which is way above my budget. I must also fund a carer to accompany me whilst at the college.
Please help me make my dream come true, if you can spare any money no matter how big or small
I would be extremely grateful. Go Fund Me to a better life!!
